Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is employed to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail address, but to seem as being sent from a different one, usually with the idea to fraud the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers around the world get it. The record features all of the email servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an email address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and in case the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the targeted destination. In case, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message will not be sent and it will be discarded. If you employ this solution, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam emails that appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain name hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to enable it is to select one of your domains from the drop-down list and then type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be authorized to send email messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This feature gives you the highest standard of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are handled in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from us, you are able to secure your email addresses by enabling the SPF protection service for any domain name hosted in the account with only a few clicks. This can be done from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous practical experience with such things, you won't have any kind of problems to enable the security. The only things that you'll need to do will be to choose a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be mailed globally only if they're sent from that particular server. If your emails are handled by us and not by some third-party supplier, you will also be able to activate an option for email messages to be sent only if the domain name features our MX records and the latter would be the safest option.
