Every registered domain has no less than 2 Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain website hosting provider. This way, you have both your site and your e-mails managed by the exact same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for example A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, when you type a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the site and the emails means that you could have your website and your e-mails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every Linux shared web hosting we provide, will enable you to view, change and create A and MX records for every domain name or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update won't take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Setting up new records is just as easy if, for example, you wish to use the email services of a different service provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. Additionally you can set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Using our innovative tool, you'll be able to handle the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even when you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With the Linux semi-dedicated hosting we provide, you are going to have 100 % control over the records of all domains and subdomains that you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has from the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and modifying any record requires just a couple of mouse clicks. If you decide to switch your web or email hosting provider, you can change the necessary record and direct your domain to the other service provider for one of the services, as you still carry on using the other one through us. You may also keep the main domain name here, while you change the A record of only one of its subdomains. In case you are editing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two that we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for each one.
