An access log is a text file which contains a complete list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so when you have a PHP script app and a website visitor opens only the home page, for instance, you may find numerous files inside the log. The reason is that there are elements on the home page which are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, graphics, etcetera. These files shall be listed within the access log, so that you can get a complete picture of the way your site works. The info is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally termed "raw data" as well. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, world-wide web browser and Operating System. More information, like the referrer website, is typically included too. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats generated by your hosting server.

Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting

When you order a shared web hosting from our company, you'll be able to choose if access logs should be generated and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You could enable this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which comes with all shared accounts. Any domain you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you will see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can easily trigger or disable the generation of access logs independently for every website that you have. You could save a log to your PC by clicking on the Download link that you will see in the exact same section of the CP. The link shall be available even after you stop the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data collected by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with no more than a few clicks within your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access when you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is one click on the On button that you'll see there. The function can be enabled individually for any site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find a full list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you could then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be deactivated by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
