Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME universal top-level domain is the sole TLD intended for personal sites only. These domains can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are famous by. At first, just third-level registrations were possible, so if you wished to obtain john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level names remained working.
